In view of the promising antibiofilm capacities of hordeninewith netilmicin, biofilms were stained with acridine orange andobserved under a fluorescence microscope. Hordenine treatmentshowed significant biofilm reduction, as indicated by the greenstained cells (Figure 3). In contrast, thickened biofilms weredetected in the control group (Figure 3Ca). Under the combinedtreatment of hordenine and netilmicin, the antibiofilmcapacity was significantly enhanced, resulting in rare cell clusters(Figure 3Cf−h). A similar result was also obtained with theSEM images, in which biofilms showed a scattered appearancein the presence of hordenine (Figure 3Dd,e). After combinedtreatment with hordenine and netilmicin, the integrity of thebiofilms was disrupted and cells were scattered (Figure 3Df−h).
