This FTF describes all technical recommendations and limitations for Press-Fit component assembly process.Press-fit technology is applied for through-hole component with a pin designed to be inserted with a high insertion force into PCB plated-through hole, and then achieving a high retention force for long-term operation. Automotive, Telecom and Avionics are using such a technology.Main benefits versus conventional soldering process:• No thermal cycle (no thermal stress) applied to press-fit pins, PCB and to the component body.• Environment friendly (no use of additional soldering product)• High mechanical stability , with direct attachment ( no need for additional attachment screw)• Few component assembly process steps.• High reliability of electrical contact, with better lifetime than a solder joint (∼ 30 times)
