Summer PlansHey Cousin, I hope you don’t mind if I ask for your help. I remember that you had a similar problem when you graduated a few years ago. As you know, I’ll graduate in a few months and I can’t decide what I should do after graduation. I had originally planned a two-month trip to Argentina, but I just found out that I have been accepted for an internship at American Airlines. Both are great opportunities, but I really need your help in making the right decision. If I travel to Argentina, I can relax and have fun with my friends. I have never taken a vacation with them and this might be the last time we can all travel together. Once I start working, it will be difficult to take off as much time for a vacation. However, if I take the internship, I might be able to travel with work; I probably won’t get any time to relax though. I would have to start the day after graduation and I’ll be busy working all the time. It will be very stressful. Despite the stress, it would be a good career move for me to work for American Airlines. Even though I won’t get paid, I would get commercial experience and if I work hard, perhaps they would offer me a job at the end of the summer. This happened to another student last summer. Also, it might look rude to turn down an internship which I applied for and I’ll feel bad for wasting their time. But, traveling to Argentina would let me practice my Spanish and I know that most tourism companies want to hire people with good Spanish skills. I also promised my friends that I would go with them. They’re counting on me to help share the expenses and I’m afraid that if I don’t go, they won’t be able to afford it themselves. I really don’t want to let them down. Money is also an issue. Traveling to Argentina will cost a fortune. The airfare is expensive and then there’s the cost of accommodation, food and entertainment. I’ll spend all my savings. However, if I take the internship, I won’t make any money, but at least I can live at home with my parents and I won’t spend any money either. What would you do? I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks,Terra
