A small randomized controlled trial (n=20) compared Bi-Manu-Track therapy coupled with functional training to dose-matched conventional therapy in chronic stroke patients (Liao, Wu, Hsieh, Lin, & Chang, 2012). After four weeks of intensive therapy (90–105 minutes, 5 days/week), the robotassisted therapy group demonstrated significantly increased motor function, hemiplegic arm activity (as measured by self-report of functional capabilities) and bilateral arm coordination as compared with the control group.
