Ergonomics and SafetyTest stand shall comply with Caterpillar Global Machine Specifications.Sound safety and ergonomic considerations should be applied during the initial concept and design of the test stand.Where possible, attempts should be made to minimize weight of hoses, fittings and connections.Swivel-type hydraulic connectors should be considered whenever twisting of hoses may occur.Hoses should have a storage location close to the point of operation, to greatly reduce fatigue and possible injury. There shall be accessibility to three sides of the test stand. The distance from the outside of the test stand to the middle of the Valve Under Test (VUT) or point of operation should be 18” or less. (Note: reaching should be kept to a minimum. 12" or less is ideal.). In cases where reach is extended beyond this requirement, other means of injury risk mitigation shall be used (i.e., manipulators, hoists, etc.).Control circuit transformer shall have minimum capacity of 1 KVA in excess of control circuit requirement. When possible, all wire ends should be appropriately terminated. When possible, all control wiring should be 24 Volt DC. Separately fused 220 VAC duplex outlets shall be provided and accessible on outside of each control enclosure.
