3.4 Design of automatic control system The automatic control system was used to detect scaly bud signals by infrared sensor and adjust scaly bud direction, as shown in Fig.11a. It included MCU (STC 12C 5A60S2), infrared sensor with counter tube, rotational cylinder (SMC, MSQB10A), telescopic cylinder (TN16X30-S), pneumatic solenoid valve (ATM, 4V210), and air compressor (Shanghai Jaguar Company, Z-0.036/8). The infrared sensor is sensitive to white but insensitive to black, it can judge scaly bud is detected or not through different colors of seed and funnel. Rotational cylinder controls rotation and reset of rotational hopper. Telescopic cylinder is a key component to make rotational cylinder and rotational hopper move move back and forth alternately. Workflow of automatic control system was shown in Fig.11b, the inputs of the first pneumatic solenoid valve, the second pneumatic solenoid valve and the third pneumatic solenoid valve connected with air compressor. Port P 0.0 of MCU was input of sensor signal. Port P 1.0~P1.2 were outputs of pneumatic solenoid values.
