In cross-cultural communication, the former focuses on understanding, that is, overcoming cultural barriers, while the latter aims at interpersonal communication. Understanding is a prerequisite for communication. Therefore, the theory of intercultural communication helps the translator to combine the two cultures to achieve the purpose of cultural transmission under the condition of understanding the background culture of the target readers.
