Once the vision and mission statements have defined why the organization exists,corporate goals are needed to describe how the organization will get there in the mid tolong term. Effective corporate goals follow the SMART model:Specific The goal should be descriptive enough to guide business-unit managers indeveloping action plans that will accomplish the goal.Measurable The goal must include a method for determining when it has been met.Action-Oriented Goals must describe the actions that will be taken.Realistic The goal must be high enough to challenge the organization or individual butnot so high that it’s unachievable.Time-Based Goals must include a time frame for completion.
