This paper uses sequence stratigraphy and sedimentology theory to carry out a comprehensive study of the sedimentary system in the Xingouzui Formation in the central and southern Jiangling Depression. Establish the isochronous sequence stratigraphic framework of the Xingouzu Formation in the study area; study the types of sedimentary facies and the distribution of sedimentary systems. The main conclusions and understandings obtained are as follows:
(1) Through core observation and description of core wells in Jiangling Depression, dark mudstone facies and variegated mudstones are identified as 12 types of rock facies and 8 types of rock facies.
(2) Through the analysis of core and well logging data, three main types of sedimentary facies, delta facies, freshwater lake facies and saline water lake facies, were identified in the Xingouzui Formation in Jiangling Depression. The main subfacies or microfacies are: lakeside, shallow lake, shallow lake sand bar, delta plain branch channel and inter-channel, delta front edge underwater branch channel, tributary bay, estuary sand bar, distant sand bar, etc. .
(3) On the basis of identifying the sedimentary facies, based on the analysis of the seismic emission interface, large lake flooding surface, and logging curve characteristics of the main seismic section of the basin, the stratigraphic superposition pattern of degenerating-accumulating and accumulating-advancing is determined In the study area, six sequence boundaries were identified in the Xingouzu Formation in the study area, and the Xingouzu Formation in Jiangling Depression was divided into XSQ1 (III oil group and mud barrier), XSQ2 (lower oil group II), XSQ3 CII oil group (Upper), XSQ4 CI oil group) and XSQS (new upper) 5 three-level sequence
