3.2. In vitro dissolution behavior studiesThe dissolution behavior is an important property for the absorption of oral APIs [29]. Particularly, the improvement of dissolution rate and solubility of SYA will be of great value for its application of antioxidant in the pharmaceutical field. The dissolution profiles and the corresponding IDR values of the cocrystal versus the starting raw materials are given in Fig. 6. It can be seen from the figure that the pure SYA has relatively poor water solubility and the IDR value is only 0.313. While the plain INH showed a much higher dissolution rate with the IDR value being 9.332 compared to SYA. It is worthwhile to mention that, as shown in Fig. 6, the IDR value of INH-SYA cocrystal is between both of individual SYA and INH, promoting 5.85-fold over the pure SYA, indicating that the high solubility of INH can improve the solubility of SYA after the cocrystal formation.
