The invention relates to a method for monitoring a pressure sensor in a direction injection system comprising at least one common rail, a high-pressure fuel pump, a hydraulic circuit connecting the high-pressure pump to the common rail, a passive pressure-limiting valve that is connected to the hydraulic circuit and is configured to open as soon as the pressure in the hydraulic circuit exceeds a threshold pressure such that fuel is discharged, the method involving the steps of detecting an opening action of the pressure-limiting valve, measuring the pressure P MES corresponding to the time the pressure-limiting valve opens, and comparing the measured pressure to the threshold pressure P1 so as to detect a drift of the pressure sensor.
