Iliad tells the story of Troy, a city in Asia Minor, besieged by the Allied forces of the Achaeans. Because Troy is also known as ilium, it is called Iliad. Taking the quarrel between Agamemnon and Achilles as the wedge point, the epic focuses on the events in the last few days of the war. The Allied forces besieged Troy for ten years, but failed to conquer it. The contradictions in the army gradually intensified. Achilles resented that the commander Agamemnon took his female prisoner and refused to fight for the Allied forces again. Later, his good friend and lover (cousin and his lover, according to some original historical materials) died in the war and went out to fight again in order to avenge him. Hector, Prince of Troy, died in a duel with Achilles. The story of the Iliad ends when Priam, the king of Troy, pleads for the body of Hector to be recovered for a funeral.<br>
