Up until this point, the analysis has dealt primarily with the distribution of total netwealth. However, the composition of wealth across asset types (and debts) also mattersto wealth inequality trends just as the composition of labor and capital incomes wasshown in the previous sections to matter for the trends in income inequality. Unfortunately,when it comes to the historical evidence about wealth composition across thewealth distribution, we know almost nothing. As for the aggregate composition of privatewealth, we know more thanks to both old and more recent evidence.110
