3. Cytological observation of chestnut fruit development. During the development of chestnut fruit, the size of chestnut bract and ovary increased with the increase of time, showing a "s" curve. With the development of ovary, in the process of proembryo developing into globular embryo, heart-shaped embryo, torpedo shaped embryo, cotyledon shaped embryo to mature embryo, endosperm cells also went through the period of cellization, differentiation and death, which indirectly proved that endosperm cells did not exist in mature embryo. With the development of embryo, the contents of protein, starch, protein and polysaccharide increased. In the process of embryo development, starch was mainly located in the outer integument cells, polysaccharide was mainly located in the inner integument cells, and protein particles were almost invisible in the inner and outer integuments. With the development of seed kernel, the starch grains in cotyledons gradually increased in volume and density, and the changes of starch grain area, long axis and short axis showed "s" curve. These are cytological characteristics of chestnut fruit development.<br>
