The patient should be carefully evaluation in terms of needs for adaptions and assistive devices that can improve function. Loose-fitting clothing with Velcro closures can be used to facilitate dressing. To promote bed mobility, the patient can be helped to assume a sitting position by elevation the head of the bed with blocks of approximately 10 cm, or by attaching a knotted rope to the end of the bed to pull on. The bed should be firm. If patient have problems in standing up, they should avoid soft, deep upholstered chairs.
