The background and revision of Gengchen edition and Yang Zang edition of A Dream of Red Mansions, as well as the details related to etiquette in the periodical edition, are obviously different from each other. Analyzing these variants, we can find three basic rules: first, in the first eighty chapters, Yang Zangben pays more attention to etiquette than the base text and Geng Chen Ben; in the last forty chapters, Yang Zangben pays more attention to etiquette than the base text; and second, Cheng Zangben pays more attention to etiquette than Yang Zangben. From the perspective of detailed description of etiquette, there is a trend of gradually strengthening etiquette consciousness among Gengchen, Yang Zang and Journal editions, which reflects the obvious ideological tendency of the revisers. This regular phenomenon shows that in the edition system of A Dream of Red Mansions, Yang Zangben is a transitional manuscript between 80 chapters of the system and 120 chapters of the system.<br>
