The New English Curriculum Standards (NECS) has put forward clear requirement for junior high school students in English reading ability (2012). According to the competence level in NECS, students who has accomplished nine-year compulsory education should reach the fifth level of junior high school. As far as the reading ability is concerned, students can infer the meaning of the words according to the context, understand the logical relationship, read the reading material in corresponding level, use simple reading strategies and so on. Students in junior high school are about 11-15 years old. At this age, students are inquisitive about the outside world and fond of attractive teaching methods instead of the cramming teaching methods. Even if junior high school students have formulated the basic logic thinking ability, their thoughts still remain immature and they enjoy learning in playing rather than repeat mechanically. In the practices of teaching, the teachers should take all these factors into consideration and make joint effort to help students achieve comprehensive development.
