In order to quickly and effectively adjust the system frequency change caused by the imbalance of system load, it is necessary to make the wind turbine have the similar frequency response and frequency modulation control level as the synchronous generator. Under this requirement, the active reserve capacity of the wind turbine or wind farm is very important. In general, conventional generators are required to provide certain rotating reserve for wind turbines to meet the purpose of suppressing wind power fluctuations. However, due to the increase of the installed capacity of wind power, the reserve capacity will also become larger. If only relying on the conventional generator set to provide rotating reserve, it will greatly increase the capital investment of the power system, and in this case, it still can not meet the requirements of wind turbines participating in system frequency regulation.
