In addition to relying on a novel sintering method, adding sintering aids is another effective approach to decrease the sintering temperature of 8YSZ. Transition metallic oxides, such as Fe2O3, are effective sintering aids for accelerating the densification rate of zirconia ceramics [29–43]. Recently, an 8YSZ ceramic with a density higher than 95% was fabricated at the sintering temperature of 1150 °C by doping with Fe2O3 additives [33]. However, obvious monoclinic phases were detected in the 8YSZ ceramics after doping with Fe2O3, which might be detrimental to the densification of ceramics at lower temperatures and lead to the deterioration of the stability and electrical conductivities of the electrolytes [44,45]. In this work, a CSP was applied to fabricate Fe2O3-doped 8YSZ ceramics based on an Y(NO3)3 solution as the liquid medium. The sinterability, phase evolution and electrical properties were carefully studied.
