The active element Ru was added via the incipient wetnessimpregnation method using RuCl3 as precursor; the latter was dissolved in distilled water and the solution was added drop by dropover the carrier meanwhile thoroughly mixing the whole mass. Themixture was then placed in an oven at 200 ◦C to evaporate water.The catalytic powders, after grinding in an agate mortar, were calcined in pure O2 for 2 h at 350 ◦C to remove the chloride ions and,in turn, to form the Ru oxide, which was then reduced in pure H2atmosphere for 2 h at 350 ◦C. For all the prepared catalysts, the Ruload was equal to 3% by weight.
