Failure to wire power supplies to the EBS ECU as directed results in learned information failing to be written to EBS ECU memory, as intended. This will result in various issues, most commonly in regard to steering angle sensor data being lost.Wiring steering angle sensors (SAS) to the J1939 CAN bus is acceptable, provided the power up and down sequences do not result in SAS being powered up after, or down before the EBS ECU.Reduction in load on J1939 CAN Bus can be achieved by wiring SAS direct to the EBS ECU. Once a SAS is powered for the first time, it will learn what connection is used to the EBS system, and assign correct function internally. This process is not feasible to reverse, so if a change in connection is desired, the SAS must be replaced. For ECAS ECUs, failure to maintain a battery supply to pin X1- 7 will result in similar issues to the EBS system, where information from height and/or pressure sensors can be lost when system powers down.
