Here is the same lohan type ,but in a slenderer ,rather highly decorated variant .The sloping curve of the back rail has not undergone any change ,yet both it and all its supporting members have been made considerably finer and slighter in proportion .The legs ,too, are light ,although the usual splay lends them strength .The splat ,of double curvature ,has the usual single carved ornament and also two typical flanges ,-an ancient device .Beneath the front and side stretchers ,an additional member has been added ,bent so as seemingly to support them .Finally, the front brackets below the seaat-although not the side or rear ones-have carved with openwork clond heads .Thus a number of comparatively small variations trans-froms the character of the piece , refining it until a totally different effect is given from those of preceding examples .
