Corroboration of the finite element simulation with field data for the OPC and 40% fly ash concrete mix blocks indicates the potential of this approach for investigating the performance of various concrete mixes in mass concrete elements. This obviates the need for constructing costly massive blocks to assess the cracking potential. The adiabatic heat rise data obtained from calorimeters and the development of strength and stiffness with time from small-scale specimens can be used to evaluate the cracking potential
