The quality of product contact compressed gases should be assured through adequate design, appropriate controls (e.g., change control or change management procedures), and routine maintenance of the system. If adequate controls are in place, critical compressed air and other process gas systems typically require analytical testing on a periodic basis to confirm that the system is operating under a state of control. Routine release testing (e.g., identification testing) of compressed air or process gases furnished by a qualified supplier may be required for release of incoming raw materials. If it is determined that analytical testing of a distribution piping system is necessary, the specification limits for the testing should be suitable for the intended use of the gas.
