In vivo treatment with exogenous FGF21, alleviated lipopolysac charide (LPS)-induced infammation through the inhibition of IL-1β expression in THP-1 cells further revealed that, besides the NF-κB pathway, the mechanism of action of FGF21 was also observed to involve the elevation of IL-10 which is an anti infammatory cytokine through the ERK1/2 pathway. Signif cant reduction in the expression of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IFN-γ were also recorded in this research. STAT3 has proved essential for all known aspects of the IL-10-regulated anti infammatory efect both in vivo and in vitro.
