To study the eff ect of glycation on reconstructed skin, an originalthree-dimensional model of glycated skin has been proposed. The skin model, Mimeskin ™ (BASF BC, Lyon, France), has beenengineered with and without the previously glycated collagen forthe culturing of human fi broblasts. The glycated collagen has beenobtained aft er incubation for 3 weeks with ribose at 0.5 M with orwithout the tested plant extract. The treated collagen has been usedto prepare a specifi c matrix where human dermal fi broblasts wereinoculated. Aft er incubation for 3 weeks, human keratinocytes wereseeded on top of the reconstructed dermis and cultured for 1 week. The keratinocytes then produced a stratifi ed epidermis through theairlift procedure for 2 weeks [ 32 ].
