If you were to slice the head horizontally about 1 1/2" above the flame plate, you would see something like this. Coolant enters the head at one of the openings at each corner. It then travels via bored cooling passages to the four valve seats. The coolant circulates around the seats and then travels to and around the igniter sleeve located in the center of the cylinder head. From there, it travels up through the head and then exits into the exhaust manifold.
