Thanks for your message and suggestion.As you know Maersk have not required internal sealant and CIMC produced without sealing for many years, it is not a new requirement.Background reason is that sealant material is affected by age, not long lasting. Relaying on sealant for water/air tightness is not a robust solution and can lead not only to rework and repair during in-service but affect cargo integrity, been noticed on Maersk operated containers with added sealant. Additionally we see sealant is in many cases been applied as a solution to hide quality defects in regards to coating and welding. Not to forget the environmental and cost avoidance advantages for not applying these chemical products. Thereby my suggestion in order to fulfill specification welding requirement would be for factories to enhance quality control and re-work whenever necessary, alternatively adapt speed to ensure specification requirements compliance this way not compromising on product reliability
