At this point in time, the 7th is the Mahler Symphony that I reach for most often; this 8-29-1969 performance featuring the GREAT Horenstein is the most satisfying one I have ever heard, among the others I own by Levi, Rattle, Gergiev 1, Bernstein 1 and 2, Jiracek, studio and live Rosbaud, Solti, Mehta, Segerstam, Svetlanov and a few others! I will also confess that this performance is so good it almost inspires me to want to hear and own every 7th that has ever been released, which doesn't happen very often with other works.A tiny quibble- the opening note for trombone sounds wrong !
