Refugee shelter services must be culturally appropriate, so nurses and other professionals need to: respect one's culture and beliefs; be open-minded; ask questions about one's culture and beliefs that we don't know about, and respect their plight; ensure common expectations between patients and health professionals; give translators more time to support others; work with communities, Eliminate stigma and improve mental health awareness. Nurses play an important role in supporting refugees during and after resettlement. In the meantime, support is crucial and will have a positive impact on their well-being. Specialized services are also provided for refugees and asylum seekers, such as community health programmes, counselling on torture and trauma experiences, multicultural health and support services, language services, health translation guides and visiting arrangements.<br>
