Steam used for sterilization7.17 Purified water, with a low level of endotoxin, should be used as the minimum quality feed water for the pure steam generator.7.18 Steam used for sterilization processes should be of suitable quality and should not contain additives at a level which could cause contamination of product or equipment. The quality of steam used for sterilization of porous loads and for Steam-In-Place (SIP) should be assessed periodically against validated parameters. These parameters should include consideration of the following examples: non-condensable gases, dryness value (dryness fraction), superheat and steam condensate quality.
