AI, and especially ML, will continue its advance to automate and augment human decision makingacross a broad set of use cases, including security. AI will evolve from being predominantlyperceived as a marketing term to a critical technology for improved threat detection. Beyond itsapplication to security, AI sees increased adoption across many areas in IT, including processautomation, improved customer experience, cost reduction, marketing and the augmentation ofcomplex tasks. However, at the same time, attackers are innovating quickly to improve attacks onAI techniques used in security solutions. 4 Moreover, attackers are using AI to improve theirtechniques across many areas of offensive security, including phishing, impersonation, vulnerabilitydiscovery and evasive malware generation (see Figure 3).
