This humidification system consumes a lot of parasitic power and also increases the weightof the PEMFC system. These systems also draw additional attention from commercial users thus adding complexity to the design. Another method of external humidification is the direct addition of water to the cell developed by Watanabe et al. [1]. The international fuel cell corporation [2] uses water permeable bipolar plates, in which water is recovered from the cathode side and it directly humidifies the flow streams within the cells. Satschewski [3] hasalso reported the use of porous bipolar plates which are conditioned by water loop and deliver 100% humidi5cation to the MEA. This method is generally termed internal humidification.
