This dissertation compares Oscar Navarro's II Concerto for clarinet and symphony orchestra with his band transcription of the same piece. This comparison demonstrates how the composer effectively translated his musical intent from the orchestra to the distinct medium of the wind band. This study also demonstrates how wind transcriptions by the original composer provide insights into the musical intent of the original orchestral composition. The results are intended to serve as a reference for those who wish to increase their effectiveness as arrangers or interpreters of orchestral transcriptions for wind band
