Metallic micromonoliths offer a better mechanical strength and higher thermal conductance than ceramic ones, which can be also advantageous. However, the adhesion of the catalytic layer to the metallic substrate is an important limitation. A suitable pretreatment of the micromonolith surface and the carefully control of the parameters of the catalysts deposition are mandatory [32]. Among the metallic substrates used in the literature for preparing micromonoliths, ferritic stainless steel (for instance fecralloy) is one of the most interesting due to adequate chemical and thermal stability at the temperature normally used in catalytic reactions and chemical compatibility with the catalytic layer.
