Although these social interactions are often perceived as negative, the provider’s actions are well- ntended (Revenson, 1991); for instance, too much family support may be overwhelming and perceived negatively by some even though it is intended to be positive. Several researchers have suggested that negative social interactions, compared to positive social support, may be more consequential for health and have more “potent effects on psychological well-being”.
