With the continuous development of education and the continuous improvement of information technology, college English classroom teaching has gained unprecedented opportunities for development, but also put forward higher requirements for students' English ability. Traditional university English teaching mainly adopts a single indoctrination mode, which is not conducive to cultivating students' initiative in learning, in this case, in order to get rid of the disadvantages brought about by traditional university English teaching, the university English flip classroom teaching mode came into being. Based on the connotation and characteristics of the flip classroom, this paper aims to understand the characteristics of flipping the classroom teaching mode, and to clarify the application of flipping the classroom mode in college English teaching, so as to effectively improve the teaching effect of college English, promote students' personalized learning and improve the comprehensive quality of English teachers. This paper uses the method of literature reference and experience summary to explore the applicability of flip classroom in college English teaching. It is hoped that through the research of this paper, let people really understand the flip classroom, give full play to the advantages brought by the flip classroom in college English teaching, so that the combination of college English subjects and flip classroom wipe out a different spark, so as to improve the quality of college English classroom teaching to provide reference.
