If you feel tired after eating richly, you may lack adequate digestive chi, or circulation may be stuck. I suggest starting with a few days of Xiao Yao Wan if you tend toward hypoglycemia (look for a pale tongue with scallops and possibly dark- colored spots). If you have water retention in the middle (a large waistline, and gastric discomfort after eating), it pays to increase your circulation in the area by taking Shu Gan Wan. (Look for a bloated, darker reddish, or purplish tongue and a coating.) Then, after your digestion and circulation improve, you can notice how much your energy recovers.
