Whenever there is alinear relationship (Pearson correlation) between twovariables, it is possible to compute an equation thatprovides a precise, mathematical description of therelationship. With the equation, it is possible to plug inthe known value for one variable (for example, yourSAT score), and then calculate a predicted value for thesecond variable (for example, your college grade pointaverage).
