Relevance theory is an explanatory theory of language communication that emerged in the field of philosophy of language in the 1980s. The principle of relevance is generally regarded as an inherent restriction factor in the human psychological structure. In the process of communication, we always subconsciously assume that the object of communication has followed the principle of relevance, but the best relevance is the key to successful communication. Relevance theory believes that the strength of relevance depends on two factors: processing efforts and contextual effects. That is to say, first, under the same other conditions, the greater the contextual effect, the stronger the relevance; second, under the same other conditions, the less the effort to deal with the discourse, the stronger the relevance. The degree of relevance of discourse depends on two factors, the contextual effect of discourse and the effort made in processing discourse. The translator should correctly understand the intention of the original work according to the principle of best relevance, make appropriate judgments and estimates of the reader's cognitive environment, and adopt appropriate strategies to make the target language reader understand the original author's intention. A successful translation should allow the target language readers to use the least effort to achieve the greatest contextual effect and obtain the most appropriate understanding.

Correlation theory is the explanatory theory of language communication which emerged in the field of linguistic philosophy in the 1980s. The principle of association is generally regarded as an internal constraint in the human psychological structure, and we always subconsciously assume that the communicative object has followed the principle of association, but the best correlation is the key to successful communication. Correlation theory holds that the strength of correlation depends on two factors: processing efforts and contextual effects. That is to say, first, the greater the context effect and the greater the relevance, and second, the less effort and relevance the other conditions are the same. The degree of correlation of discourse depends on the contextual effect of discourse and the efforts made in dealing with discourse. The translator shall, in accordance with the principle of best correlation, correctly understand the original intention, make appropriate judgments and estimates of the reader's cognitive environment, and adopt appropriate strategies to enable the intended language reader to understand the original author's intention. Successful translation should enable the intended language reader, with minimal efforts, to achieve the greatest contextual effect, to obtain the most appropriate understanding.

Relevance theory (RT) is an interpretive theory of language communication which emerged in the field of philosophy of language in the 1980s. The principle of relevance is generally regarded as an internal constraint in human psychological structure. In the process of communication, we subconsciously assume that the object of communication has followed the principle of relevance, but the best relevance is the key to successful communication. According to relevance theory, the strength of relevance depends on two factors: processing efforts and contextual effects. That is to say, firstly, under the same other conditions, the greater the contextual effect, the stronger the relevance; secondly, under the same other conditions, the less efforts to deal with discourse, the stronger the relevance. The relevance of utterances depends on the contextual effects of utterances and the efforts made in dealing with them. According to the best relevance principle, the translator should correctly understand the original intention, make a proper judgment and estimation of the reader's cognitive environment, and adopt appropriate strategies to make the target language readers understand the original author's intention. A successful translation should enable the target language readers to achieve the maximum contextual effect and the most appropriate understanding with the least effort.<br>
