Therefore, if the LIB is set at 150 cm, the temperature of the running filament submerging into the liquid is close to the liquid temperature, whereas the filament at 200 cm,which is already cooled to a temperature much lower thanthe liquid temperature, is expected to be heated again bythe liquid.As the liquid temperature used here is much higher thanthe glass transition temperature (Tg) of PET, there is a possibility that the filament is still in a molten state when it emerges from the bath. If such a filament is forced to come in contact with a solid surface at the outlet of the bath or by passing it over a guide roll, the filament may deform further by the additional friction force and the evaluation of such friction force is difficult. In order to avoid these complications in the present investigation, a tiny hole was made at the bottom of the liquid bath and the filament waspassed through it without any significant contact. Thus, thisexperimental set-up enabled us to study the effect of liquidbath alone on the development of structure and propertiesof the as-spun fibers.
