SHORT CIRCUIT TEST (CONT’D): Section 39[X]The samples under test shall be grounded. The ground conductor or the metal enclosure is to be connected through a non-time delay, 30 A, cartridge fuse to the electrical supply live pole judged least likely to strike ground.[X]The protection device is to be connected in series with the pole most likely to strike ground. The connection is to be made to the load side of the limiting impedance by a 10 AWG copper wire measuring 4 – 6 feet in length.[X]Surgical cotton is to be placed at all openings, covers, joints, flanges, and the like, on the outside of the enclosure.For all test operations, the test circuit shall be closed on the mated devices. If an interlock is provided, the test shall be conducted with the interlock switch or circuit closed.[X]Equipment rated for direct current 5000 A, 1000 Vdc is to be tested using a direct current electrical source;
