Drain sheets are arranged between the slanted tube bundles to keep the condensate from dripping on the tube below. The condensate flowing down the drain sheets is heated by the steam, thus avoiding thermal losses. The condensate is collected in a hotwell located at the bottom of the condenser from where it passes into suction drain .A condensate flow regulator maintains a definite condensate level to ensure the necessary head for the condensate pumps.The tube are left to stand proud at the outlet end in order to facilitate removal. there is not danger of the tubes being forced out pulled out of the roller-expanded points as a result of the differing thermal expansion between the tube material and the shell material.The forces required to dislodge a tube plate are about 4 times the forces encountered in op- eration as a result of temperature difference (Fig. 1 and 2).
