Welding and brazingThe recommended welding method is TIG or MIG with an inert protective gas (argon).Resistance welding can also be used. Gas welding or metallic arc welding should be avoided. The material has a tendency to form cracks (hot cracks) in the weld joint. Welding shouldtherefore be performed free from tension.Additives AISi 5 and AIMg 5 are recommended for use.Additives with the same composition as the basic material should not be used.Welding reduces the mechanical properties of the material, especially if it is cold worked orprecipitation hardened.
