Due to the rapid development of the information age, various online English learning platforms provide students with numerous learning opportunities. However, research shows that middle school students have weak autonomous learning ability. How to enable students to carry out effective autonomous learning in a complicated network learning environment and improve their own autonomous learning ability have yet to be solved. In addition, according to surveys and studies, there are relatively few studies on the effect of online autonomous English learning of middle school students on grades. Therefore, this study explores the ways and characteristics of online autonomous learning for middle school students, studies and analyzes the impact of online autonomous learning on English performance, and summarizes the relationship between online autonomous learning and improving English learning ability.
