To understand the general situation of public health emergencies in schools in Qinghai Province, and provide a scientific basis for the development of prevention and control strategies for public health emergencies in schools. Methods Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to analyze school public health emergencies reported through the "Public Health Emergency Report Management Information System" during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period in eight cities (prefectures) in the province. Results During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, public health emergencies in schools across the province accounted for 77.92% of public health emergencies. Outbreaks of infectious diseases are the main types of school emergencies, accounting for 95.00% of the total number of school incidents. The most frequent occurrences are respiratory infectious diseases such as chickenpox, mumps and influenza. In all reported incidents in schools, the township primary schools accounted for 45.00%.
