The Army recognizes the relentless and growing threat posed by our adversaries’ modernization of SUAS capabilities. In addition to employing advanced air vehicles, adversaries have developed, and continue to improve upon, sophisticated cyber and EW capabilities that present threats to SUAS operations. It is imperative, therefore, that the Army ensure SUASs are hardened against cyber and EW attacks and can perform tasks in Global Positioning System (GPS)-denied or degraded environments. The Army must pursue advanced technologies and resource SUAS capabilities to detect and defeat our adversaries whose focus is to disrupt U.S. military strengths and exploit perceived weaknesses. Future forces must be able to employ and counter SUAS capabilities that encompass the land, air, and cyber domains.
