The working principle of this battery is different from that of double-layer heterojunction OSCs. As shown in Figure 1-2c, due to sufficient mixing of the donor and acceptor in BHJ type OSCs, the two can form a phase separated structure at the nanoscale. This three-dimensional interpenetrating network structure can significantly increase the donor/acceptor contact area, significantly reduce the transmission distance from excitons to the donor/acceptor interface, provide more efficient transmission paths for excitons, and greatly improve the dissociation efficiency of excitons. Since then, BHJ type OSCs have officially become the mainstream of research, and OSCs have entered a golden period of rapid development.
