Skopos theory holds that the skopos rule is the top-ranking rule for any translation.“Skopos” refers to the communicative purpose of the translation. Due to differences incultural background, ways of thinking and methods of expression, the intention of theauthor and the form of the original discourse do not fully conform to the living habitsof the target readers. The skopos rule emphasizes the function to be achieved in thetranslated text based on the analysis of the source text. Thus, it is necessary for thetranslator to understand the purpose of the translation and the expectations of targetreceivers in the target context, so that appropriate translation methods and strategiescan be employed.
