With the addition of span 85, disk-like LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 nanoplates with exposed (001) planeswere synthesized by a simple Pechini method. The diameter of the disk-like LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2nanoplates was approximately 50 nm while their thickness were around 3 nm. The result showedthat the mixture of liquid surfactants played a key role in the change of morphology ofLiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 nanoplates. And this kind of cathode material, which was applied in lithiumion battery, achieved a high specific capacity of 165 mAh g−1 at 2 C after 200 cycles, together with acapacity retention ratios of 98.2 %.
